Although Trent Alexander-Arnold made 12 appearances for Liverpool last season, this feels like his breakthrough campaign.
The 19-year-old’s burgeoning reputation has been enhanced over recent weeks thanks to a string of impressive performances in big matches.
Liverpool fans have been hugely impressed with the teenager, who picked up the club’s Young Player of the Season award last term, and he’s also received praise from various high-profile pundits including Gary Lineker.
The former England striker said Alexander-Arnold is “playing with an assuredness and maturity way beyond his years” during Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Manchester City last week.
Steven Gerrard said the right-back was the star man over the course of the two-legged quarter-final tie while Rio Ferdinand thought the youngster outperformed England’s first-choice right-back Kyle Walker.
Speculation is now rife that England boss Gareth Southgate will look to include Alexander-Arnold in his squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in Russia, although Alan Shearer believes the tournament may come a little too soon for him.
“It might just come too soon for him. Having said that, he’s got another five or six weeks left,” the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer said. “If he performs brilliantly in the semi-final of the Champions League like he did in the quarter-final [against Manchester City] and he can do it again in the final, then Gareth has to take notice.”
VIDEO SHOWS ALEXANDER-ARNOLD’S UNREAL ATTRIBUTE
Indeed, Alexander-Arnold appears to possess all the attributes required to become a world-class right-back. But one of his most impressive qualities is undoubtedly his passing – just ask Liverpool fans – and this is obviously a quality that you don’t always find in full-backs.
A video has now emerged which proves Alexander-Arnold is capable of playing some unreal passes. Watch it here (click play on the blacked out tweet below)…

IMAGINE THE PASSES HE’LL BE PLAYING IN FIVE YEARS
Just imagine the type of passes he’ll be playing in five years’ time.
It’s patently clear that Liverpool have a major talent on their hands.

And the fact he’s a local lad makes his rise to stardom even sweeter.
Hopefully Jurgen Klopp helps him fulfil his huge potential over the coming years. / source – Here
